About Us
Who We Are!
My name is Shellsea Martin—beekeeper, educator, wife, and mama to three sweet girls, and co-founder of Martin’s Hive & Harvest. For us, this work goes way beyond bees. We're a family-run labor of love rooted in education, sustainability, and a deep respect for the natural world.
With over a decade of beekeeping experience and a background as a high school English teacher, I’ve found a unique way to bring the classroom to the hive. I love blending science with storytelling to help curious minds—young and old—understand the fascinating world of bees: their biology, social lives, and the vital role they play in our ecosystem.
Together with my husband Andy, we’re raising our daughters in a home where learning is woven into everyday life. Whether we’re checking hives, planting vegetables, or collecting eggs from our backyard chickens, we believe in the power of hands-on experiences to teach responsibility, stewardship, and connection to the earth.
Andy’s built an amazing environment for our girls—where growing food, caring for animals, and respecting nature are just part of being a kid. That same grounded, intentional approach inspires everything we do at Martin's Hive & Harvest—from the services we offer to the honey we jar.
